Società Caruso – Caruso Club Hosts A Culinary Experience For International Language & Heritage Students!

Since January 2023, St. Albert Learning Centre has been offering international language and heritage classes to Kindergarten to grade 8 students in the Greater City of Sudbury!

This past Saturday, our students embarked on a delicious field trip to the Società Caruso – Caruso Club, where they had the incredible opportunity to learn the art of crafting their very own personal tiramisu desserts. Under the expert guidance of Angela Corsi-Raso, the club’s entertainment chair, our students were led step by step through the process, immersing themselves in the rich Italian culinary heritage.

We extend our gratitude to the Società Caruso – Caruso Club for their valuable partnership and for making this year’s Italian Language & Heritage classes an enormous success! The support and dedication of organizations like the Caruso Club are what make our educational journey truly extraordinary.

At St. Albert Learning Centre, we believe in fostering cultural appreciation and providing immersive experiences that empower our students to embrace the diverse world around them. We are immensely proud of our students’ enthusiasm and their eagerness to expand their language and heritage knowledge.

Indigenous Secondary Student Awards Received by Several St. Albert Students!

What a remarkable night of celebration we had at the Indigenous Secondary Student Awards Gala last night! We are beyond proud to announce that seven of our talented students received well-deserved awards. They have truly shone bright and showcased their incredible achievements.

We were honoured to have Liza Wemigwans, a remarkable St. David graduate, as the keynote speaker. Her words resonated deeply with everyone in attendance as she spoke eloquently about finding one’s passion in life and the power of perseverance. It was a profound message that left us inspired and motivated.

We thank the educators at St. Albert Adult Learning Centre our parents/guardians and the team at Compass for supporting our students. In addition, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sudbury Catholic Schools and all the other community partners who played a pivotal role in organizing this memorable evening. Your commitment to supporting Indigenous education and fostering a sense of pride within our community is truly commendable. Chi Miigwech!

Ash Wednesday 2023: The Start of the Lenten Season

Ash Wednesday is an important day for the Catholic community, and we are honoured to commemorate it annually at Sudbury Catholic Schools. This year, on February 22, 2023, our students, faculty, staff, and parish partners will come together for Mass to receive ashes on their foreheads, symbolizing the beginning of the Lenten season.

As we embark on this journey together, we encourage our community to concentrate on meaningful themes, such as the gift of life and showing kindness, generosity, and compassion towards others.

During Lent, we place a special focus on “almsgiving,” where we donate money or goods to those in need and perform other acts of charity. Though these acts of service are conducted year-round, we encourage everyone in our community to reflect deeply on how they can show more compassion and generosity towards others during the Lenten season leading up to Easter.

As a Catholic school board, we believe that faith is a fundamental aspect of our lives, and we are committed to nurturing the spiritual growth of our students. We strive to instil a deep respect for Christ’s teachings and inspire them to live according to his values. On this Ash Wednesday, let us renew our faith and commitment to God and unite in love, compassion, and kindness as a community.
