Unique Learning: Sudbury Five Team Teaches St. Albert Students How To Play Basketball!

Our students had the unique opportunity to learn from the industry’s best players, gaining invaluable basketball theory and hands-on techniques. Not only did they get trained by top professionals, but our secondary students also earned a credit in the process!

As a culminating activity, our secondary students took their newly acquired skills to St. Francis, teaching Grade 4 students how to play basketball during Catholic Education Week. The smiles and excitement were infectious!

Today, at our luncheon, we were thrilled to have Coach Logan, player Haroun, and Mike, the Sudbury Five player development coach, join us.

Coach Logan led the students in a fun mock draft of current NBA players, challenging them to put together the best team.

A huge shout out to the entire Sudbury Five team for dedicating so much time and sharing their gifts with our students.

Special thanks to Mr. Dino Rocca for being our school sponsor and providing our students with tickets to a Sudbury Five game to consolidate their learning. And of course, thanks to the wonderful and flexible teaching team at St. Albert’s for making this idea a reality!

Our students showed their appreciation by presenting custom PEACE pens handcrafted for Coach Logan and sponsor Dino. It was a day to remember!

Celebrating Richard’s Educational Milestones!

We are thrilled to share the inspiring journey of one of our mature students! Ricky started with us in 2017 needing 2 credits to complete his Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). After persevering and working at his own pace, he is graduating this June!

Ricky, who is currently a chemical engineering student at Cambrian College, dropped by the office today to give the staff a beautiful thank you basket. We are honoured to have graduates like Richard and hope his story serves as a reminder that you can achieve your goals at your own pace. There is no right or wrong pace—just **your** pace.

Email Ricky sent to his teacher Victoria:

“Thank you so much for the continued support, mostly moral and letting me into class early! Take care and all the best to you and the rest of the faculty and Christina. God bless higher education and all of those involved in its many processes and efforts of the academics that make it all happen. Life is higher education.”

As Ricky so beautifully put it, “Life is higher education.” This quote perfectly encapsulates the essence of lifelong learning. Every experience, challenge, and triumph contributes to our education, both inside and outside the classroom. Richard, your determination and gratitude are truly inspiring. Congratulations on your well-deserved success!
